Well we arrived last night, later than expected, traffic in Miami was nutso! Quickly set up and put a few things away. Early night. The site here at Long Key is totally off the hook!!! We are directly on the beach/ocean front. We can't believe it. We are going to see if we can nab another week here if anything is free, or be put on a cancellation list. The breeze here is amazing, didn't have to bother with a/c last night, opened up everything and felt like we were sleeping right on the beach! What an experience. We are truly grateful. I had a hard time sleeping as I kept gazing at the stars, then the moon. Absolutely breathtaking. Woke up to the sunrise and beautiful bird songs.
This morning, after a lovely coffee and some bird watching, we manouvered the camper a bit differently, easier job in daylight :) I unpacked my bins of stuff and put things away into cupboards, frees up more space and gives us more breathing room. We're learning what works best as we go and doing a bit of reorganizing along the way. All good!
Just about to head to the store/market to grab a few groceries and then it's chill time! No touring today, we'll be veging by the sea maties! Most likely will go for a walk or bike later.
Plan on doing some snorkeling for sure, although I will admit being a bit spooked knowing there are sharks around. The ranger told us they won't bother us but to be aware of bull sharks & lemon sharks! Not sure if he's joking as he has a very dry sense of humor like someone else we know and love. I did a quick search and read that nurse sharks are common here, but are also nocturnal and won't be interested in us. I'll do a bit more research..on the other hand sometimes I prefer to be ignorant about these things, there's something to be said about "what you don't know won't hurt you"!
Pictures will follow..maybe later tonight when I've had enough sun and salt air??
Love to everyone and thanks for your posts, emails and texts!!!
