saturday

Windy as heck last night! We thought we'd try something different and close everything up and turn on the a/c for the night. The wind was soo crazy it felt like the trailer was going to blow into the ocean! All was good this morning, sounded worse than it was I guess.

Went for a morning walk along the beach then headed to the Sunset Grill (love that Don Henley tune!!!) and Raw Bar in Nights Key(Marathon). It was a nice spot with a view of 7 mile bridge. We ordered tuna poke, raw oysters, conche bites and the grouper sangwhich! They were small portions people!!! Ha ha. Anyways....We discovered the oysters here aren't really our thing, they are huge and gnarly. The grouper was also not what we expected, have had much better on the islands. The tuna and conche were good!Oh yes, Rog had a rum runner and I had a mango daquari. Delish!

Next we decided to go check out Honda Bahia state park, where we'd originally been booked in but had to cancel as we were postponed in town. It is a busy park, small beach, and right beside the 7 mile bridge, which the main highway #1 runs on. There were a few nice sites, but we much prefer where we are. Just reconfirmed how lucky we are to have grabbed a spot here!

Stocked up on a few groceries and headed back. Went for a short bike ride around the park and had a mellow night. Sweet dreams to all.

Finally some shots of Long Key!

Spectacular sunrise our first morning here.

St. Augustine, Florida....

Here are some shots of St. Augustine and Anastasia state park.

Update on the keys

Yesterday was definitely a good one. Started off with some yoga, Namaste! Yoga on the beach with the ocean in front of you...extra special.

Spoke to a lovely couple at the site beside us, they live in Florida, in the area, and come here once a year. Gave us some great info on other parks to check out and a snorkeling spot out front of here. So we decided to do some snorkeling. We did see some cute little tropical fish, a lobster, I saw a small school of red snapper and some other kind of silver fish? Not as active as we thought, apparently you have to go way far out to get the good stuff.

We were also planning on renting some kayaks, however another nice couple down the way offered to lend us theirs. Super sweet! George and Hilary. We took them up on their offer and spent a good 2 hours touring around. Fortunate to see a few black tipped sharks about a foot and a half - two feet long, another small school of what appeared to be smaller black tipped sharks, as well as a tiny ray, about a foot or so in diameter. Upon returning the kayaks our arms were twisted to join them for a drink. They live in Arcadia, Florida and manage an rv park there. Not far from Bradenton where my mom and dad have spent some time a couple of winters. We absolutely loved hanging out with them. They invited us to come visit anytime.

Forgot this shot of Edisto, another breath taking moment when we rounded a corner out of the bush trail and it opened up to this.

Flat tire back in Virginia!

The rest are Edisto State Park and beach.

We stopped for lunch in Savannah (Richmond), Georgia at the Smokin Pig BBQ. I'd read a review on trip advisor that it was a great little spot for lunch, right off the I95, convenient! I figured Rog would love it! I think I already posted about what we ordered so I won't repeat myself!

Ok just tried to upload my pics and it's taking FOREVER! I've been using my actual camera to take photos, as opposed to my phone, and have downloaded them to Rog's laptop. He is out fishing at the moment and I don't want to screw anything up on here, so let me get back to you later!

An old oak tree draped with Spanish moss, lots of these in Charleston and I have always loved the look of them, very romantic!

Stopped at Zaxbys chicken for lunch on the way to Charleston. It's a chain out here, but very fresh chicken and the portions were actually reasonable! I was able to eat a fairly healthy meal, grilled chicken salad. On the not so healthy side, they make their own potato chips, which they boast about and advertise that you'll never go back once you've tried them. We found them to be super scrumptious!

The other shots are driving to Edisto state park in Charleston and Rog grilling his first steak!

Some photos.....

Ok so backtracking a bit on the photos from leaving the rv park in North Carolina.

Filled up on propane, very handy. They have some little cabins you can rent there as well.
